You wish Elaine was your Grandma. It’s ok-You can admit it. I’m joking! But she is a pretty awesome grandma! Elaine contacted me several weeks ago. She’d had a vision in mind for years involving a princess portrait session surrounded by her granddaughters. The photographer she was accustomed to going to in the past had recently stopped shooting, and she was referred to me. We chatted about what she wanted out of her session, and eventually our conversation wandered to all sorts of things. I even ended up referring her to my favorite beauty supply store where she found some products that she loves.
My mind went into the direction of a royal tea party, so I fashioned a tea cake prop out of an aluminum can and spackle, and shopped for a new table and some accessories. I was already in possession of a nice tea set and real gold flatware, so the set up was fit for royalty.
The ladies showed up in the studio and got started on hair and makeup right away. Elaine had ordered gorgeous gowns for the girls in rich tones, as well as “glass” slippers and tiaras.
Elaine got her wish of having glamorous, royal portraits taken with all her favorite little girls. I love the way their dresses popped out amongst the creamy, monochromatic tones in the images.
I love it when clients come to me with a vision that they’re enthusiastic about, because then it becomes a partnership-a creative collaborative effort. I am sure these girls will come to treasure these unique portraits with grandma Elaine.
