I knew of Shamay long before we ever met. Before having her daughter, she was a very well known promoter who supported local artists, organized fashion shows and many other night life events, and she’s also a teacher. Along came her daughter and with motherhood, her focus has shifted and she has evolved into a motivational speaker, and author!
After supporting each other online for some time, we finally met in person when I opened up my new studio Downtown. Her daughter and my daughter are close in age, and we share similar parenting styles. Before we knew it, what started as a drop-in chat, developed into an hours-long conversation. We covered all the bases; Motherhood, relationships, regrets and hopes. Shamay is one of those people who is easy to talk to. She’s educated and also down-to-earth, totally non-judgmental, and honest about who she is.
Shamay’s book is due to be released October 1st of this year, and she is also featured in a book called “Igniting The Vision.” With all of these things just around the corner, the need for promotional images brought her to my studio.
Images are needed for business cards, book covers, social media pages, websites fliers and so many other promotional uses. I cannot stress enough how important it is for professionals to have quality imagery and a strong brand. Choosing a photographer who can produce quality images that fit your vision is imperative; The social media attention span is short, and if a viewer’s attention isn’t caught right away, they will keep scrolling.
We divided the session between studio time, and some outdoor shooting in the neighborhood surrounding the studio. Shamay wanted to look professional, but also fun.
Along our route, we talked about dreams of home ownership, our short-term goals for the coming year, and of course, about our daughters as well. We both have big ideas and we can see our dreams on the horizon.
