My husband works for Dish Network, so he is regularly inside the homes of lots of local people and, occasionally, another parent will strike up a conversation which leads to a sharing of pictures and sometimes he gets asked who photographs my daughter’s portraits, which is, of course, me. This was the case for Jessica. Her daughter’s first birthday was fast approaching, and she contacted me about shooting a portrait session.
She envisioned an outdoor session that demonstrated an elegant, shabby-chic look with touches of pink and gold. I dug out my pearls and crystal vases, and of course my gold chandelier.
As I lugged all of these props and gear down into one of my favorite locations, (I think I need to invest in a mule, by the way. I would take very good care of him) we talked about the weather, our daughters, and motherhood in general. Jessica is an independent real estate agent who works from home, and so her and I could relate to each other as self-employed mothers.
I positioned my setup in a spot to catch some beautiful light bursts, and we spent the hour playing with Savanna, watching her enjoy the props, and catching timeless moments in this adorable setup. Despite the heat, she was a happy and enthusiastic baby, and bringing all these props along was so worth it!
